What is Community Acupuncture?
Community Acupuncture is acupuncture treatments done in a group setting. Instead of one-on-one private sessions, you share the space with other people receiving treatments simultaneously. This allows the Community Acupuncture Clinic to charge less per person treatment and allowing us to continue to provide quality treatments yet making it still affordable for you.
How Does Community Acupuncture Work?
Instead of lying on a massage table, community acupuncture is done in a upright sitting position. In addition, we work with primarily arms and legs. (elbow down and knee down). We may on occasion conduct treatment in the face/head area, but we will always ask your permission before proceeding. Following is the process of a Community Acupuncture session:
- Fill out Intake Form and make Payment
- A formal TCM diagnosis is conducted at the beginning of every treatment to ensure your session is customized to your concerns and focus.
- Deliver acupuncture treatments based on diagnosis (typically 4-8 needles total)
- Rest for 1 hour to ensure two qi cycles allowing for maximum effect without draining your body's energy.
- Brief recommendations and removing needles.
Is Community Acupuncture Less Effective?
Although Community Acupuncture is only a fraction of the cost of private acupuncture. Community Acupuncture often utilize a different school of acupuncture which focuses more on working with your limbs and effectively utilizing various Classical Chinese Medicine theories to work with your meridian channels to flow qi instead of localize point specific to the area of concern.
What's the Difference between Community Acupuncture and Private Acupuncture?
Besides costing a fraction of what a private acupuncture session, community acupuncture only focuses on utilizing acupuncture as the only modality during the treatment. In a private acupuncture session, other modalities including gua sha, tui na, and cupping may be used in combination with acupuncture.
