What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a modality within the system of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It involves the insertion of extremely fine needles into the skin and body tissues at specific points, which is proven to be effective in the treatment of health problems. These points and channels have been mapped and used for thousands of years.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

Acupuncture and Chinese medical theories works on a concept of balance. Disease is caused when there is a state of imbalance between energy flow (Qi) and blood (Xue) in the channels (meridians) and their associated organ system. The channels (meridians) cover the body much like blood vessels or the nervous system does. Acupuncture needles are inserted in acupoints located on the channel to help stimulate and balance it. Through inserting needles the channel or associated organ is either drained of excess energy or boosted if it is lacking. Through this process Acupuncture helps the body regulate and balance itself into good health.
